Astrophotography is a type of photography that captures images of astronomical objects in our Solar System as the sun, the Moon, Planets, Comets and all other objects out of them as Nebulae, Galaxys, Star Clusters and many other object of the night sky.
Amateur Astronomers shoot their photos with CCD Cameras, DSLRs or modified Webcams. Astrophotography techniques depend on the subject and the equipment one has.
The main techniques used in Astrophotography are:
1. Shooting with the Camera with lens on a Fixed Tripod, for widefield shots like the milky way, constellations and startrails.
2. Prime Focus photography using SLR or CCD cameras, for deep sky objects.
3. Shooting AFocal, when the camera is attached on the eyepiece.
4. Piggy-Back, when the camera is put on a telescope or on an equatorial mount. Ideal for widefield shots using macro lenses.
5. Photography with Web Cam or Video Cameras, mostly for planets and the moon.
